Adaptive Ski Clinic

This weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to help out with an adaptive ski clinic. One of the doctors at the Children's hospital organizes a water-skiing day for children (and adults) every year. Last year was their trial with a few participants to see how to run things... and this was their first big year! About 10 participants came to participate! The youngest being 5! It was an incredible experience to see their faces as they enjoyed something like they have never done before! (Or thought they would ever do!)

The children with cerebral palsy/amputations/down syndrome/paraplegic used a "seated" system... We got them loaded on the dock...

Then they were glided into the water and got ready to go!

She is actually a bilateral below the knee amputee who used prosthetics to ski standing up... AMAZING!

Each time someone was skiing... there were 2 jet skis following close behind with "jumpers" on the back that dove in to assist as soon as they fell... It was all set up so well! No injuries at all!

The kids loved waving at everyone on shore that was cheering them on!

My new friend...

A good reminder of why I am in physical therapy school!

  1. Morgan, this is so encouraging to see kids and adults doing these water sports after such injuries. God is really using you out there, and I hope you are having a blast along the way! We miss you, but know you are doing amazing things out there! See you back in Texas!
